Description
An emu that walked up to the side of my vehicle on the drive-thru Safari trail at Lake Tobias in Halifax, PA. The emu is the second largest flightless bird in the world reaching a height of 6 feet tall and weighing as much as 150 lbs. After the female lays the eggs, she will leave the nest. The male will then sit on the eggs until they hatch. The emu is endemic to Australia where it is the largest native bird and the only extant member of the genus Dromaius.
