Sunflowers say “summer” like no other plant. heavy heads filled with seeds. Sunflowers (Helianthus annuus) is an annual plant with a large daisy-like flower face. Its scientific name comes from the Greek words helios (“sun”) and anthos (“flower”). The flowers come in many colors (yellow, red, orange, maroon, brown) but they are commonly bright yellow with brown centers that ripen into burgundy. Moulin Rouge is pollenless and will produce several blooms per stalk. Great as a cut flower, central bloom and smaller side blooms will bring the beauty from the outside in. Lemon sunflowers have bright lemony yellow flowers adorn a dark brown interior where the seeds are formed.
